The large stone on the left is inscribed: "Let Us Not Forget ~ The Men And Women Who Served ~ Our Country In The ~ Armed Forces And Are Now ~ Resting In Garfield Cemetery ~ {names} ".

The small stone on the right is inscribed: "Died In The Service Of Their Country ~ {names}".

Sante Fe Trail Museum

Type: Cannon

Description: The cannon is on a concrete mount, outside the Sante Fe Trail museum. The cannon is bronze 10-inch siege mortar. The inscription on the concrete mount dedicates the site to the Mormon Battalion and their actions near here in the 1840s.

A nearby bronze marker describes the actions of the Mormon Battalion, who camped at this location on 8 September 1846.
